LIP LIFT

If you have a greater-than-desirable distance between your nose and upper lip, lip lift surgery may be an option for you.

To get the fullness of the upper lip, an incision can be made just below the nose to shorten the skin and then the lip can be pulled up. If your lip is turned down, the surgeon may make incisions on the sides, through which extra skin is removed. The sutures can be removed after five days or as directed by the surgeon.

Lip vermillion augmentation

Vermilion advancement is a procedure that involves making an incision along the edges of the lips. A strip of skin is removed off the edge of the lip. The remaining skin, along the edge of the lips, is pulled to achieve fullness.

What to Expect After Surgery or Procedure

If the lip enhancement procedure involves the use of grafts or implants, it may take about two weeks for the patient to recover. It is recommended that you discuss recovery time with your surgeon so that you can organize yourself in advance. It is also advisable to avoid rigorous physical activity for some time after receiving injections or surgical implants.

Other considerations

It is good to have someone with you during and after the procedure, as local anesthesia may be used, and you may not be in the best shape to return home. Smokers are typically advised to stop smoking a few days before the procedure, or some surgeons may have stricter policies regarding smoking. On the day of the procedure, be sure to wear loose-fitting, button-down clothing or clothing that can be removed from the lower body. That way you won’t pull them across your face.

Home recovery preparations

Before the procedure, be sure to prepare your home for your recovery by having comfortable pillows available. Drink lots of non-alcoholic drinks and prefer soft foods.
