Abdominoplasty, also known as abdominal dermolipectomy\u00a0, is a surgical procedure that can be performed on both men and women. It is indicated to remove excess abdominal flaccidity and reposition the muscles of the abdomen. Due to weight loss, pregnancy or aging, sagging skin and abdominal muscles can be depressing and problematic.<\/p>

Plastic surgery, in these cases, aims to restore the body contour, reshaping the waist, repositioning the muscles and removing excess skin. In most cases, abdominoplasty must be associated with liposuction to remove localized fat.<\/p>

For patients with sagging skin below the belly button, a mini-tummy tuck is an option, however, the muscles are not addressed with this procedure and the scar is not as extensive as with a conventional tummy tuck. How is the surgery done?<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

General or epidural anesthesia is applied. An incision is made at the time of the cesarean section, which extends to the sides, up to the pelvis bone. The musculature of the abdomen is repositioned and sewn together. All excess skin is removed and a new belly button is made. After the sutures, a dressing is made with gauze and ointment. Bandages or compression straps are placed around the abdomen.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Stitches are removed between seven and ten days. Lymphatic drainage should be started in the first postoperative days. The belt should be kept for 30 to 45 days, and should only be removed for bathing. The patient can return to their activities around 15 days after the procedure.
