Saline-filled or newly FDA-approved silicone gel implants can be surgically implanted by three standard routes, with placement above or below the thoracic muscle. The standard routes are: periareolar (around the areola), inframammary (lower breast folds) and transaxillary (arm cavities). In addition, saline implants can be placed transumbilically (through the navel).<\/p>

The implant consists of a flexible external silicone shell filled with saline or silicone gel. The outer surface can be smooth or textured. Implants also come in a variety of sizes, profiles and shapes to suit each woman’s individual needs.<\/p>

The surgery will enlarge the breasts, but it will not change the underlying basic defects in their shape and shape. Major asymmetries can be improved, but will not be completely corrected with breast augmentation alone.
